Rajeev Roy

Rajeev is a Professional Engineer and currently working as the Director of Digital and Process Transformation at the Regional Municipality of York, Toronto, Canada. He is responsible for the implementation and on-going support of business specific technologies for Public Works and Community and Health Services departments.

Rajeev has over 36 years of experience working in business technology area with focus on Transit and Transportation industry. He is a recognized expert in intelligent transportation systems (ITS) and has led the implementation of many systems bringing benefits to transit and transportation agencies and customers. His innovative approach to solving issues and bringing operational efficiency has led to the implementation of many state-of-the-art ITS systems at York Region. Rajeev is one of the few 905 transit agencies representatives still supporting PRESTO program since its inception in 2004.

Rajeev is actively involved with intelligent transportation systems (ITS) society of a Director on the Board.

Rajeev graduated from Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi, India in 1986 with a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering. Rajeev joined Indian Railways in 1989 and worked in various capacities before immigrating to Canada in 1998. He completed his Master’s in Transportation Engineering from the University of Waterloo in 2000.

Rajeev joined IBI group and worked on various ITS projects including but not limited to ATMS, ATIS, Fare Collections Systems etc. He joined York Region in 2005 and was the Manager of Transit Management Systems until January 2015 when he was promoted as the Director of Business Planning and Technology. Since July 2025, he has been entrusted to support business technologies in Community and Health Services department also.
