      Keeping workers safe is as important as keeping drivers safe. Construction and maintenance workers are particularly vulnerable\u2014especially during harsh weather, peak traffic, and day-to-day field work.<\/p>\n

      <\/p>\n

      In this panel, we will be exploring the use of technology and improvements to processes to enhance safety in workzones. Our panelists will explore this topic from several different aspects including the risks and considerations, the newest technologies in workzone safety, the technology gaps, the projects that show the leading edge of workzone safety, and what\u2019s in store for the future.<\/p>\n

      The panel will approach this from multiple perspectives, featuring case studies from bridge authorities, urban municipalities, and technology providers.<\/p>\n

      Traffic and operations experts will discuss how their agencies protect travellers, as well as the people who keep roads open and traffic moving. We\u2019ll discuss topics including Halifax Harbour Bridges\u2019 challenges with staff and public safety on bridges, Toronto\u2019s challenges with construction workzones and accessibility for pedestrians with disabilities, and Esri Canada\u2019s Transit Safety pilot project in Edmonton.
